Licenseware is the software asset management app ecosystem.
The Team behind the startup
Software is eating the world. It’s been less than a century since the first modern theory of software. We’ve gone such a long way, so fast. It’s hard for us to imagine now, how the world used to work before computers. Businesses are being disrupted worldwide, and remaining relevant, every company needs to become a software company. In consequence, the software has become a critical asset that needs to be carefully managed and protected. And so, software asset management was born.
I’m Alex Cojocaru. I started Licenseware with my co-founder Ciprian Grigore. We know each other for eight years now, and we both have over ten years of experience in software asset management.
We believe that data has become a utility, like water and electricity in your home. You need easy and safe access to your data to keep things running smoothly. When you open the water tap at home, do you wait for 3 to 4 weeks for the glass to fill? What if you could have the same availability to your data? What if it was that one thing that was ready when you needed it, and it would support your decision making, not hinder it? You could make the decisions you need to make when you need to make them.
Our mission is to make software asset management a commodity for organizations by reducing complexity and lowering investment costs. We offer a pay-as-you-go pricing model based on components that can be used together or individually.
Why did you choose the StepFWD program?
We choose StepFWD first of all, as a learning experience. There’s a wide variety of startups entering the cohort every year, this allows us to see past our specific startup challenges and get the bigger picture. And then, of course, there are some incredible mentors, well-established professionals who are actively helping us become better versions of ourselves and refine our approach. Overall, we’re hyped to meet so many wonderful people, learn, network, and have fun in the process.
Why did you pick this project to work on?
We choose to work on Licenseware as it was a balanced mix of what we love. We’ve had a lot of fun working together in our previous job. We’re both nerdy, well experienced in Software Asset Management, and with a crazy passion for software engineering. Our vision is to create an ecosystem of apps that can be used independently or together, depending on our customer’s needs. It’s been a remarkable journey so far, our main drivers being our enthusiasm and passion for succeeding.
